I've known about the anorthosite connection for years (our Geology Dept. chairman at U of Nebraska was crazy about the rock & even took us up to the shores of Lake Superior to see a much greener version of the rock) but I didn't realize this ancient rock was forming "new" mountains through its uplift. There's that whole "this is a remnant of an old mountain chain" bit which is the case with the Appalachians and other mountains but I guess not with the Adirondacks. Looking forward to reading parts II & III.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01739632118727093802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1044623403268527446.post-3564680390468222462012-11-29T10:11:59.525-05:002012-11-29T10:11:59.525-05:00Great post and pictures. This was a very interesting read. I am going to use some of this for my paper, thanks so much for sharing Dr. Jack.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15122599196657892636noreply@blogger.com
